Family practice nursing
What is a nurse practitioner (NP)?
Nurse practitioners are Registered Nurses with additional training, skills and specialization. They have a wide range of duties and responsibilities. A nurse practitioner can do many of the same things a physician can do. In fact they are an answer to America’s primary care shortage. In Washington State NP’s have full practice authority. That means that they can order diagnostics such as MRI’s or blood work, diagnose and treat. NP’s can prescribe and bill insurance in the same way a physician can.
